Reports are coming in that a very large brush fire is burning in the vega area between Motril and Salobreña.
Many fire crews have arrived from neighbouring towns to fight the blaze which is still raging, fanned by high winds.
The emergency services received an alert at 17.00h and since then firemen from both Salobreña and Motril are tackling the blaze, hampered by especially high winds.
At the time of writing, the fire has not reached any of the cortijos in the vega nearby. However, an H.T. electricity pylon has and Sevllana has been informed.
