The Nerja Town Hall has begun work along Playa La Torrecilla to improve public lighting.

The project, which has a budget of 40,000 euros and is financed through the provincial council, will take in the area between Plaza de Los Cangrejos and Playa de El Chucho.

The object is tw0fold: improve existing illumination and modernize installation, adapting them to low-consumption systems. All told there will be 40 lamps using led technology, meaning that the old ones that soaked up 100 to 150 KW will be replaced by ones, just as bright, but consuming 50 KW.

The Councillor for Beaches, Nieves Atencia, also said that there would be ten flood lamps lighting up the beach itself.

Continuing on the theme of new public lighting, we move onto the Plaza de Cantarero where nine new spot lights have been installed, putting a bit of colour into this emblematic fountain. The colours, by the way, change constantly.
