Camino de Almenara Tarmacking

ALM Camino de almanera OnLThose that use the Camino de  Almenara – Loma del Gato in Almuñécar will be happy bunnies, because it is being tarmacked.

A total of 170,000 euros will be spent (provided by the Provincial Council) on the project, with the job going to Edificios Atalaya Tropical, explained the Councillor for Rural Environment and Public Works, José Manuel Fernández.

For those of you who are wondering where this lane is, it is the one that runs above the Taramay industrial estate (Citasol), crossing over the Loma del Gato autovia tunnel and coming down near the A-7 junction on the N-340 – in other words, it runs parallel with the main road, just a little bit inland and running for about 2.7 kms.

The last kilometre has already received a concrete surface, thanks to work on the A-7 but the first 1.6 kms are pretty ropey – this is the bit that will receive a layer of tarmac.

As well as the surfacing work, the lane will also receive a bit of decent drainage, and the banks of the lane cleared of vegetation

The councillor said that if all goes according to plan (*sigh!*) it should be complete before the end of January.
