Christmas street lighting in Salobreña this year includes ‘tailor-made’ ones for the town on Avenida Federico García Lorca and other locations.

Other streets with these decorative arches or gantries, if your prefer, are the Avenida de Motril and the Plaza Juan Carlos I, giving Salobreña 40% more decorative lighting this year, says the Councillor for Fiestas, Manuel Guirado.

Christmas activities include a fiesta aquática and today there will be an exhibition of rhythmic gymnastics in the municipal sports pavilion.

On the 18th there’s a Christmas Basketball Tournament as well as a chess one. The third event for the 18th is the Christmas Carols competition organized by Radio Salobreña.

There’s tennis and football on the 20th and a visit by Santa Clause to the Municipal Market, whilst up in the old town there is a Chocolatada, which doesn’t take much translation for the ‘chocolate enslaved’ amongst us!
