A policeman belonging to the Salobreña municipal police, Gabriel Guirado, has published a book on medicinal herbs in that area.

Entitled, La Guía de las Plantas Medicinales the book covers 200 species, each one perfectly classified, explained and accompanied by a photo, taken by Gabriel himself.

The idea behind it is to provide a herb guide for hikers in the Salobreña area, as well as bring an awareness of the need for their protection, as some are in danger of extinction.

The guide is hopefully just the first part of a guide covering the wider Costa Tropical area, which has 400 species and will include the medicinal properties of the chirimoya, for example.

Anyway, 1616 Books in Salobreña is stocking them, so make sure you get one before they go!
