Thirty-eight Volkswagens loaded with 70 owners & passengers were in La Herradura this past weekend for the VII Kedada Volkswagen Clásicos Playera.

The event was organised by the Club VW Granada with the collaboration of the Town Hall.

These venerable vehicles had arrived from most of the provinces of Andalucia, as well as further afield; from Murcia, Alicante and even the Spanish enclave city on the North African coast, Melilla.

The beetles and microbuses, which were all built between 1958 and the year 2000, did a stately run from Peña Parda, where they had been parked for perusal by the curious, to the Marina del Este.

Besides the parade, there was also ‘tapeo‘ on the beach and prize giving for the most veteran vehicle, the best kept and for the participants that had travelled the furthest to attend.

The organisers also collaborated with Cáritas by collecting non-perishable foodstuffs for local families that depend on this much-needed help.
