The Mayor of Salobreña, accompanied by a representative from the area water board, had a meeting with residents of Calle Cristo on the planned street work.
The idea was to explain to these locals and those of adjacent streets up in the old town about how the street work on the water mains would ultimately improve their quality of life, despite the disruptions caused in the meantime.
The Mayor explained what the work would entail and how long it would take along this main thoroughfare of the old town, which runs from the west of the town (the junction with the street down to the vega) all the way to the Caja de Granada bank branch.
Part of the work consists of putting in a bloody-great valve for the water mains for the whole area.
The work, divided up into six distinctive stages, should be concluded by Semana Santa – although the Mayor didn’t mention which year…
The first stage affects the section Calle Cristo from the junction with Calle Bodegón and Calle Cochera. On average each section will take about six weeks.
Good luck on that one, Folks!
