According to the Almuñécar CA (Benavides’ party) the Mayor has just spent 20,000 euros on a project for the La Herradura Paseo.
The CA says that the Mayor intends to dig it up to replace the mains and sewage pipes, telephone cables, etc. The money would come from surcharges levied on water bills for public works.
Again, according to the CA, the Town Hall spent a not frivolous 20,000 euros on an panoramic representation of the project, with the funds for it coming from the same source. Maensa Diseños S.L. was charged with producing the “artistic and panoramic” representation of the new Paseo Marítimo de La Herradura.”
The CA complains that with only eight months to go before the local elections, there is no official project (just an artist’s impression) no permission from Madrid, no budget… “Yet we have all paid for the magnificent drawing as part of the electoral program of the PP,” the CA press release concluded.
Editorial explanation: Basically, according to the CA, the PP governing party wants to use the excuse of sorting out the pipes and cables under the paseo to change the look of the paseo and for this reason they have paid a private company to produce and artist’s impression of “a paseo project.”
The CA points out that the original “new paseo project” bit the dust and no new one has been authorised by the authorities nor funds allotted, but by using funds from the utility bills the Mayor can pass off the maintenance work as a new paseo, thus smarty points for the looming elections.
Also note that the image included in this article is not the controversial artistic impression commissioned by the PP.
