Alberto Esquitino from the Club Natación Churriana was the overall winner of the La Herradura swimming race.
The XXV Travesía a Nado de la Bahía de La Herradura 2014 also produced a Copa de Europa swimming record: 1,800 metres in 24 minutes and 37 seconds, which was Esquitino’s finishing time.
In fact, Alberto Esquitino managed to achieve a 1-minute-12-second advantage over the runner up, Pedro Miguel Serrano Vázquez (Waterpolo Córdoba).
Curiously, last year’s competition saw these two men in the opposite finishing positions, but with only a 4-second difference between them.
Estela Orozco from the Club Bikila was the first woman over the finishing line and came in overall third position.
Altogether 300 swimmers participated, from a whole host of different Andalusian swimming clubs.
