Over 50 hikers had a fantastic day out, thanks to perfect weather and a great route. Let’s face it; this time of year is best for walking.
They started out from Huétor Santillán (just north of Sierra Nevada) or Picón de Jerez, to be precise, and headed for the Cerro del Caballo in Sacromonte before finishing up at the Mirador de San Nicolás.
The Almuñécar municipal guides, Enrique Garín and Francisco, explained how they had eaten at the Sacromonte Abbey and had a look around the caves before ending up in the Albaicín by following the course of the Río Darro.
Their next outing will be on the 20th of April, which will take in the Pantano de Los Bermejales and the Cañón del Río Cacín,to the south of Jayena. The gorge behind the reservoir dam provides an excellent walk.
