Acompalia, the palliative care and hospice charity for Granada province, has announced a charity golf event that will take place at the Santa Clara Golf Club in Otura, near Granada, on Tuesday 13 May. This is a ‘Texas Scramble’ event, with teams of four players. Men’s, women’s or mixed teams are all welcome.

The fee for participating in the event will be €49 per player (€196 per team). The fee includes coffee on arrival, on course refreshments, buffet lunch, open bar and great prizes. Guests who are not participating in the tournament are welcome; a delicious buffet lunch is available at €17 (this is the cost price to Acompalia) for those spectators who want to enjoy this option.

The event begins with a shotgun start at 10.00 am, following registration which opens at 8.30 am. Prize giving will be held after lunch, which is provided for players and non-playing guests. All are welcome to chat with Acompalia volunteers and find out more about the charity’s aims and activities.

Tina Emmott, president of Acompalia, says she is excited about the event and anticipates plenty of interest.

“Passionate golfers all speak the same language,” she said. “A shared love of sport transcends language and cultural barriers, and we believe our vision for palliative care will do the same.”

Ron Withers and Terry Everett have taken the lead in organising the Tournament. “We really appreciate Ron and Terry’s commitment in taking this on,” said Tina. “They have visited a number of golf clubs in the area to obtain their support and the GINS have agreed to notify all their members.” Tina added: “We also owe a big thank you to Santa Clara management, who are helping to put together a great day out.”
