Saturday the 22nd will see the opening of a diver’s course at the Nerja municipal swimming pool.

The Councillor for Sports, Antonio García, explained that the classes would take place every Saturday from 17.00h to 20.00h.

To participate, those interested will have to put their name down and pay a subscription fee of 20 euros.

The classes will be given by Buceo Costa Nerja and its Chairman, Bernabé Jorge Toledo, explained that these classes are aimed at opening the world of scuba diving to those interested.

The course comprises of a theory class of 15 minutes, followed by practical classes in the municipal pool (the small one) to practice using the breathing apparatus going through six different exercises, such as emptying out a partially filled divers’ mask, for example.

From there, pupils will move on to the big pool where other kinds of exercises will be carried out, related to pressure and buoyancy.

Once these stages have been surpassed, then participants will carry out diving in the sea during a year.

Bernabé Jorge Toledo pointed out that anybody could practice scuba diving.
