Spaniards Don’t Trust Their Politicians

Spaniards were asked to give marks from zero to ten on various state institutions. The results were not flattering. The findings were also contrasted with a poll containing the same questions for 2009/10.

Spanish Parliament:
2009: 4.3
2012: 3.4

Judicial System:
2009: 4.4
2012: 3.7

Police:
2009: 6.2
2012: 5.8

Politicians:
2009: 2.7
2012: 1.9

Political Parties:
2009: 2.7
2012: 1.9

European Parliament:
2009: 4.3
2012: 3.9

United Nations:
2009: 4.9
2012: 4.7

It is no surprise, therefore, that the constant litany of corruption scandals and the bitter austerity cuts have done nothing to improve the Spanish general public’s attitude towards the country’s politicians and the parties that they represent.
