The 2013 tourist figures closed showing a new record in the amount of foreign tourists who visited Spain; 60.6 million. This figure is the highest number ever recorded.

When you take into account that the total population of Spain is just over 40 million, that is quite impressive and certainly good news for the beleaguered Government. In fact, it puts Spain in the Number-3 slot of countries who receive most visitors in the world, displacing China from that position. France holds first place with 83 million followed by the USA with 67 million.

Undoubtedly, Spain has benefited from the general upheavals amongst its Mediterranean rivals, such as Egypt, for example, who lost 5.2 million since July 2013.

So, who has been sending us such an abundant supply of tourists? You guessed it! The largest group comes from the UK, followed by Germany and then France.
