The CA members of the Mancomunidad have opposed the motion to spend a million euros on doing up Casa Garach in Motril.
The Mancomunidad, whose prime reason for existence is the administration of water resources on the Costa Tropical, wants to spend this money on renovating this historic building and turn it into its own headquarters.
“It is inadmissible that right in the middle of this crisis situation such an considerable amount of money should be spent on a project of such dubious necessity,” their complaint reads, and continues, “such as giving the Mancomunidad a new headquarters; more so when the building concerned belongs to the Motril Town Hall.”
“The [financial] resources of the Mancomunidad come from the water bills of consumers and the money, therefore, should be spent on renovating existing mains, rain drainage and sewer networks,” considers the CA.
Editorial comment: perhaps their comment about the building belonging to the Motril Town Hall needs some clarification: the Chairman of the Mancomunidad is none other than the Vice-Mayor of Motril, so the CA is implying that taxpayers’ money from all of the coastal towns is being spent, in an underhand way, in benefit of the Motril Town Hall.
