Young Woman Arrested in Almuñécar

The Guardia Civil has arrested a young woman in Almuñécar for allegedly stealing valuables & cash worth 10,000 from a house.

The owners had reported the theft of jewellery and cash with a total value of the said sum back in July but admitted that they were flummoxed because there were no signs of a break in.

The theft was certainly strange because in july 1,300 euros had been removed from an envelope that was kept on top of a wardrobe – the envelope had 6,000 euros in it. Then in October the owners noticed that all the jewellery in the house had been removed together with 6,500 euros in cash from an envelope containing 7,500 euro.

The Guardia Civil immediately suspected that somebody close the family was involved which lead to the arrest of the 25-year-old woman who is a relative. The suspect had sold some of the missing items of jewellery in one of the establishments in Almuñécar that buys and sells gold.

The arrested woman had a key to the premises and often visited the house.

: It seems a bit odd that if somebody had removed 1,300 euros from an envelope containing 6,000 euros in July, you would continue to keep cash in that fashion. The mere fact that the thief hadn’t simply taken the envelope with its entire contents should have sent a few alarm bells ringing, too.

Anyway, it wasn’t very bright trying to flog the stolen jewellery in the same town as they were stolen from, was it.

Money in envelopes… Surely Rajoy doesn’t have a house in Almuñécar?
