Almuñécar Photographer, Francisco Mingorance, has notched up two more international awards. The photo included in this article is entitled, Fabric Life, and won a Highly Recommended distinction at the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
“I can’t believe that a photo that I took on a piece of secano land in Taramay attracted this award, especially when you take into account the rest of the photos in the competition. This demonstrates that you don’t have to travel to far off places to get better photos,” he commented.
The photo shows the birth of spawning minute argiope spiders, some drops of dew and a small blade of grass.
The other photo is entitled, Ríotinto the Heart of the Earth, received a Highly Honoured award in the Windland Smith Rice International Awards, in which his work was amongst the 20,000 images submitted by photographers from 50 different countries. The photo was also recently chosen by National Geographic as Photo of the Week.
This spectacular photo will be exhibited in the world-famous Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington D.C.
