Reporter Donates Lift to School

Spanish media man, Eduardo San Martín, has donated a brand new lift to a Nerja junior school after listening to a colleague’s radio program.

Sr. San Martin has worked for the Spanish news agency Efe, national dailies, El País and ABC as well as Spanish state TV,  and he was moved by the plea of the parents of a child with severe mobility problems.

The radio program was hosted by Julia Otero on the national, radio station chain Onda Zero. He contacted Julia via Twitter to explain that he had a brand new Thyssen lift, still in it’s box, which he would gladly donate to the school if somebody would arrange the transport to Galicia.

So, what was this veteran reporter doing with a brand-new, unused, lift unit? He and a neighbour, whose wife mobility problems, had bought the lift, but the local town hall surprisingly would not give them permission to install it. Julia Otero pointed out that the lift is worth at least 15,000 euros.

Furthermore, the lift is an external one, which is precisely the type that Colegio Nueva needs.
