Submerged Van Recovered from the Sea

The company that provides Almuñécar with town and beach cleaning services, retrieved the wreck of a road vehicle just off the mouth of Rio Seco. It is believe that it was swept down the river and into the bay during a flash flood more than 20 years ago.

The Councillor for Beaches, Luis Aragón, explained how bathers had discovered a submerged wreck of a vehicle. Inspection confirmed that it was originally a large van, so operations began to remove it from the seabed with the help of divers.

The Policía Local are now in charge of the investigation and are working on the theory that it was swept out to see around 20 years ago and now the marine currents have brought it back to shallow water, where it was discovered by summer beach users.
