The Salobreña Town Hall is taking steps to close down an ice-cream kiosk in Plaza Pushikino, where drugs and contraband tobacco was allegedly being sold.

A Policía Local patrol on traffic duty received a call from the Guardia Civil to help out with the inspection of the paperwork of the kiosk owner – the people running the kiosk had caused a ‘disturbance of the public peace,’ during the process. Policemen from both units recognized a strong ‘familiar’ smell and decided to carry out a thorough inspection of the kiosk.

After finding packets of cigarettes without the customary Hacienda tax seals they also came across a handbag containing 25 little black bags with the emblem of a marijuana leaf on them… which was bit of a giveaway – each contained a gram of hashish.

The two people running the kiosk were arrested and as soon as San Juan has passed, the kiosk will be carted off.
