Vandalism in Salobreña

The Salobreña Town Hall has lodged a formal complaint before the Guardia Civil over acts of vandalism carried out against the municipal sports stadium, Los Trances.

The damage was caused last night; i.e., the night of Monday the 17th.

According to the Policía Local, the culprit(s) caused extensive damage, such as smashed windows in the entrance booth, as well as in the changing rooms. All told 16 windows were smashed. The cost of the damage is estimated at around 1,000 euros

The Councillor for Sports, Javier Ortega, inspected the damage this morning and stated that although on previous occasions small acts of vandalism had been inflicted on the installations, this incident is much more serious. For this reason he is calling on members of the public to collaborate in the protection of the facilities to avoid further damage.

The Councillor for Citizen Safety, MªCarmen Callejón, lamented the fact that this sort of thing happens in Salobreña and made assurances that extra police surveillance will be applied in the area. She also called upon locals to come forward if they have information as to who the culprit or culprits are, as the cost of making good such damage comes out of everybody’s pocket.
