Members of the Asociación Unificada de Militares Españoles (armed forces union) demonstrated in front of the Ministry of Defence over the arrest of their Chairman.
Sub-lieutenant Jorge Bravo was placed under arrest for criticising the Government during a radio programme over the cuts to the defence budget.
The Spokesman for the union said that the arrest was in reprisal for his using his freedom of speech.
In 1981 there was a military uprising that failed because the King opposed it and the people wanted their new democracy. The difference today is that Spaniards are disgusted by their politicians and they are hurting. One can only ask, how would the average Spaniard react if the military rose up and proclaimed that they were going to clear out all the corrupt politicians and reboot democracy?
