Kite Surfer Blown out to Sea

The Servicio Marítimo de la Guardia Civil rescued a young lad practicing kite-surfing a nautical mile off Motril – not clever.

There had been plenty of wind to get him out there at around 18.00h on Playa Poniente, Motril, but there wasn’t any to get him back.

Fortunately, a group of friends saw what was happening, or not happening, as far as the return trip was going, so they contacted the maritime branch of the Guardia Civil, who sent out a patrol boat and brought him back to Motril Port. Apart from acute embarrassment, spiced with maximum relief, he was in good health.
