The Nerja Councillor for Beaches, Nieves Atencia, issued a press statement to say that they had submitted the municipal Plan de Playas for 2013 to the Regional Government – Nerja is one of the five municipalities in the province to do so, so far.

She explained that they had submitted it early so that they would have time to carry out any modifications that the Environment Department of the Junta should impose. Sr Atencia, however, doubts that there will be any, as they have followed the same procedure and norms as last year.

The main difference with previous years has been the inclusion of 76 fixed beach beds and shades on El Cañuelo Beach. Also as a novelty this year there will be a canoe lane on Playa de Maro – the last time that there was one was in 2007.

Lastly, she pointed out that once the Regional Government published the results in the official regional gazette (B.O.R), those interested in running such installations will have eight days from then to submit their proposals.
