Conservative Councillor Resigns

PP Councillor, Miguel Ángel Anguita, at the Montefrio Town Hall has resigned as a measure of protest against his own party in the Central Government.

He stated that he totally disagrees with PM Mariano Rajoy’s policy of spending cuts. As a consequence he not only resigned as a PP councillor on the Town Council, but also handed in his party membership.

The Town Hall issued a statement saying that Sr Anguita Valero “does not feel identified with the way in which the Partido Popular governs on a national level.”

Now, as a non-aligned councillor, he says he feels disappointed by a lack of stimulus measures to foment employment. But above all, he says, he is personally diametrically opposed to the privatization of publicly owned and run hospitals.
