German Paraglider Pilot Rescued

The man, aged between 40 and 50, was taken to Motril hospital in a badly injured state after coming down in a barranco near Taramay, not far from construction works on the A-7 autovia.

Emergency services (112) received a call around 18.40h on the 30th of January. According to the Almuñécar fire service, the pilot hit a hillside and upon releasing himself from his harness, rolled about 60 metres down.

After immobilizing the patient on the stretcher – access to the area was difficult owing to the steepness of the terrain – he was hauled up to the road, where an ambulance was waiting.

The injured man, who lives in Los Pinos, Almuñécar, was unconscious when found and appears to have lost his helmet during his fall, resulting in serious head injuries, as well as blows to his neck and spine.
