The Policía Local in Motril has warned of traffic restrictions today owing to the I Carrera Benéfica Playa de Motril.
The sporting event, which is organised by C.D. Trail Running Costa Tropical, will affect streets, country lanes, paths, cycles lanes down in the beach areas of the municipality, as the title suggests.
Fortunately, it is an afternoon events divided into two categories; the 5km one which will set out at 18.45h and the 10km one which will set off at 19.30h.
The affected public ways are: Calle Rector Federico Mayor Zaragoza, Paseo de las Fuentes; the new cycle lanes next to the Parque Severiano Ballesteros; the roundabout on Avenida Rector Lorenzo Morillas Cuevas, Camino del Pelaillo and Paso Rey Balduino.
All this means is that between 17.00 and 21.30h road traffic will be completely interrupted from the golf-club roundabout, near Camping Playa de Poniente and the Camino del Pelaillo.
The Police say that drivers wishing to reach the urbanizaciones on Playa Granada from the N-323-Carretera Playa Granada and those trying to reach the beach campsite should do it via the unaffected parts of the Camino del Pelaillo; i.e. don’t come along from Playa de Poniente.
Editorial comment: our advice is just stay well clear of the beach area until they have all buggered off and stopped annoying people.
