Junta Fine Annulled

The Nerja Councillor for Commerce Nieves Atencia, has announced that the Junta’s Tourism and Commerce Board has shelved the 3,000-euro fine that it had levied on the Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja. The said regional board fined the business association for organising the Outlet Fair in the Plaza de España last February.

The Junta had argued that the event transgressed the Ley de Comercio, concerning opening times, as the event was held in a public space, even though it had the total support of the Nerja Town Hall, as the Town Council considered that it offered a boost to local trade – 30 local businesses participated.

Councillor Atencia pointed that not one of the participants had over 300 sq/m of exhibition area; a fact that cancelled out the basis of the fine.
