It’s the honesty game! You work as a cab driver in downtown Singapore and a couple leave 620,000 euros in the back of your cab. What do you do?
Well, this actually happened to veteran cab driver Sia Ka Tian, 70, who couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he found the cash on the back seat, left there by a couple who were on holiday in Singapore. But, despite his shock, he returned to his depot and handed the black paper bag, along with the cash, into the lost property office.
Then, in a classic line, that we can only dream of one day hearing from our politicians, he said, “The money is unimportant to me. It doesn’t belong to me, so how can I use it?”
A company representative chipped in with: “Finding one million dollars in cash is not an everyday affair and in fact, we wonder how many people would have possibly been tempted to pocket it. We are immensely proud of him and are glad that the passengers recovered their money.”
The rather happy looking Mr Tian was given a cash reward by the very grateful couple in recognition of his honesty, and his company have given him an award for ‘good service.’ Nice one Mr. Tian.
