Charity Do at Hotel Victoria

Hotel Victoria Playa in Almuñécar held a charity lunch in benefit of the local branch of Cáritas (Catholic-Church-run charity) on Saturday the 1st of December.

Cáritas, like many other charities in these times is faced with fewer resources but a greater need of their services, which is why this hotel offered its premises, staff and catering for the occasion, explained the hotel manager, José Andrés Fernández.

In less that a week during the run up to the event, 200 seats were sold at 20 euros a head. In the end, the seating arrangement had to be increased by a further 25 places, thanks to the excellent turn out and demonstration of solidarity.

There were members of the municipal council, Semana Santa cofrades (brotherhoods), local business owners and a cross section of the population of Almuñécar in general.

Many businesses also contributed with prizes for the event’s raffle draw, with around a dozen prizes being awarded, included a night in the hotel’s own wedding suite for two, all included. (see video)

As the ticket takings for the meal went exclusively to the charity, Hotel Victoria Playa deserves an extra special mention for covering all the costs in hosting the meal. Hotel Manager, José Andrés Fernández, explained that it was there way of thanking Almuñécar for their support since the first day that the hotel opened.
