The school parents association (AMPA) and the Head of the junior school, Las Gaviotas, began a new school year with an new multi-purpose classroom, which has been built by the Town Hall down the side of the school playground.
First Councillor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, handed over the keys to the school Head, Elena Castrillo, and the Chairwoman of the Parents Association, Pura Sánchez. The school Head, Sr. Castrillo, said that this new space (almost 25 sq/m) “Is going to come in handy, because it can be used by the AMPA for meetings, etc, as well as being a multi-purpose classroom.”
The school, whose pupils number 380 this year, has one more outstanding request, which is to have a covered playground, like just about all the Almuñécar junior schools. The First Councillor, on the other hand, explained how the Town Hall had made a great effort to bring about the new classroom space and pointed out that it is minor projects, like the new classroom, that adequately respond to needs, rather than huge projects.
“Our intention is to continue to carry out improvements as far as our capacity extends. This coming summer we shall install aircon in the classrooms for the younger pupils,” promised the First Councillor.
It would have been nice if we had been sent an official photo of the classroom, rather than the politician…
