At the last plenary meeting of the Nerja Town Council it was agreed to request of the Delegación Provincial de Salud that this health administration makes good its pledge, made to the town and for it to send them the Proyecto Técnico for the new medical centre, so that it can be approved by the municipal council and for building work to begin.

The Councillor for Public Health, Encarnación Moreno, says that this is not the first time that such a request has been made, but that on all previous occasions no reply has been received from the Junta de Andalucía

In July the Councillor had a meeting with the Provincial Delegate for Public Health, who assured her that the Department for Infrastructure says that funds existed for the basic project and its execution, but that an order had come down to put it on hold pending the appointment of the new provincial Delegate.

Accordingly, the Councillor waited until the new provincial head, Daniel Pérez Morales had been appointed and then sent in the request, but nothing had been heard; hence this latest reminder-cum-admonishment.

The Councillor says that the plot of land known as the SG-EC-2 counts upon all the favourable reports and its definitive approval from the corresponding administrative bodies as the site for the new medical centre, which came through on the 3rd of May, 2012.
