Almuñécar Tourist Guides

During the months of July and August, visitors to the town will have the chance to have an official tourist guide to show them around the town’s points of historical interest.

This service will operate everyday except Mondays and Fridays: Monday’s the Castle is closed and Friday is market day. Why the Castle should close one day a week during the peak tourist period is probably a question that a few readers will be asking themselves… but on with the article.

The service costs 8.5 euros per person, so it’s not exactly cheap, but for that you have your entrance fees to the Castle and the Cueva Siete Palacios. The tour starts from the Palacete La Najarra (main tourist information office) at 10.30h and lasts around two hours, taking in – apart from the castle and museum – the Majuelo park (fish-salting ruins) and the Roman Aqueduct near the fountain at the top of town, amongst other places of interest.

You can book at any one of the town’s hotels, at any of the tourist information offices or by phoning 626 461 535 or 652 018 955.
