The Almuñécar fire service had to deal with a small fire on the Urbanización Los Pinos today. Residents were temporarily evacuated from their houses.

The fire, whose cause is not yet known, broke out around ten in the morning amongst the pines on the hillside, quite close to Urbanización El Capricho, too.

It took about three quarters of an hour to put the small blaze out, which apart from the undergrowth, also consumed garden cuttings etc that had been dumped there. The fire service, Guardia Civil, Policía Local, Voluntarios de Protección Civil, as well as some residents themselves, took part in bringing the fire under control, but not before it had consumed around 2,000 sq/m of pine forest.

The Almuñécar fire service also had to tackle another blaze this weekend just gone, along the Camino de la Haya in Rescate, which is inland from la Herradura.
