The ex Municipal Secretary, Arantxa Ibarreche, has spoken out for the first time since her dismissal, which took place at the beginning of this month. She was invited to speak at a meeting of the Asociacion Mujeres Ecologistas sexitanas, where most of the apparatus of the CA, including the ex-Mayor, Juan Carlos Benavides, was present.

Arantxa Ibarreche, who has a degree in law from the Universidad de Málaga, was the Secretaria General del Ayuntamiento from September 2007. Prior to that, she worked at the Ayuntamiento de Zagra.

Sra. Ibarreche, wanted to make it perfectly clear that she is a state functionary and a career-based Secretaria and not an ‘accidental secretary,’ as described by the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera, and published in the Ideal newspaper.

She says that during the eight years that she served as Secretary of the Town Hall, she went from being treated with respect to being treated ‘incorrectly and in a degrading manner,’ because, she considers, she had insisted upon declaring something (the reopening of the Carambolo Campsite) as illegal and denouncing it before a higher authority.

Sra. Ibarreche claims that the Mayor told her that if she did not ‘behave’ then she would lose her productivity bonus and her contract would not be renewed in April.

Finally, she claims that when she returned from her holidays, she was bypassed and was placed under surveillance, because, she denounced, she had refused to give a favourable report for the re-opening of the said campsite.
