Salobreña Time Saver

Do you remember when we ran the article about the inauguration of the Citizen Information Office at the Salobreña Town Hall? I don’t, but it’s a great way to start an article, anyway… Just joking.

Seriously, though, the OAC, or Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano, as it is known in Spanish, has just had its first birthday and has certainly made a big difference to the administrative accessibility of the Town Hall.

During its first year of life it has handled 12,000 bureaucratic operations, cutting drastically the amount of time that a petition needs to complete its journey through the administrative maze of municipal bureaucracy. This was, after all, the whole reason for it coming into being – to make it easier for residents to push paperwork through.

Thus the office just to the left as you walk into the Salobreña Town Hall now handles 95% of administrative paperwork. The main requests that they handle are consulting records and requests for certificates.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…
