Frenchman Stabbed Defending Girlfriend

The Policía Nacional in Granada arrested a North-African man, accused of sexually assaulting a woman and attacking her boyfriend.

The 41-year-old accused allegedly stabbed the man in the neck with a piece of broken glass, after the man came to his girlfriend’s defence.

The incident occurred in a central square in the city when the woman, also of French nationality, was approached by the accused. Without uttering a word to her previously, he reportedly groped her genitals through her clothes, which caused her to immediately scream for help.

Her companion, upon hearing her calls for help, ran out of a nearby bar and set about the assailant, which was when he received the wound to his neck. He was immediately taken to hospital where he received twelve stitches.

Immediately after wounding the man, the assailant ran off, but he was recognised in the same square a couple of days later by the couple, who alerted the police to his presence. The police very quickly turned up, identified the man through the documentation that he was carrying and arrested him.

The French couple had been in Granada on holiday.
