A hiker had to be pulled off Cerro Gordo, strapped into a stretcher, after a stumble injured his foot leaving him unable to walk.

Members of the Guardia Civil, Protección Civil and Almuñécar-based firemen were involved in the 2-hour rescue operation, which did not prove to be a simple affair owing to the difficult nature of the terrain.
