Do you ever feel guilty about doing shopping in big department stores instead of local businesses? Well, for once, you needn’t, because Alcampo has donated 3,500 euros to social welfare in Motril… and it’s not the first time.
Since 2008, Alcampo in Motril has been donating to social-welfare projects; funds that come in especially handy with so many families with no income and the the municipal coffers exhausted.
The cynical amongst us will point out that 3,500 euros a year is much less than what this supermarket takes in just one day; money from the pockets of Motrileños and the locals of nearby towns, so it is the least that they can do. Some might even think that this ‘donation’ was a clause written into the opening licence when it was granted by the Town Hall, but whatever the case, the fact is that 3,500 euros going towards those that most need it cannot be a bad thing, can it?
