Guides in Punch Up

When a guide shows you around the Alhambra, for example, you expect him to show you the most interesting corners, to explain a little about its history… but what you do no expect is for him to show you how to punch another guide’s lights out, but that is what happened on the 15th of October.

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, two tour guides; one a German and the other a Spaniard, slugged it out in front of their respective gaggle of tourists, resulting in the German needing 12 stitches at the local hospital (Spain 1 – Germany 0)

It all started when the driver of a minibus containing the German guide, carried out a manoeuvre that almost brushed the group belonging to the Spanish guide… is nothing sacred? The minibus driver warned, “If you’re not careful, you’re going to get run over.”

Well, before long, an exchange of insults was taking place, but there it would have ended, had the two groups not coincided within the monument building. The German guide, decided to take a photograph of the Spanish guide, whose response was to initiate a brawl.

It goes without saying that the tourists had their own Tales of Alhambra to tell, when they returned to their respective hotels.

The result was that the German guide obtained a medical report from the hospital where he was treated and afterwards placed a complaint in the nearest police station in the city. It didn’t take long for the police to identify and track down the camera-shy Spaniard.

The moral of the story: for God’s sake don’t point your camera at your tourist guide!
