Keeping a low profile is essential if you decide to live beyond the law; in other words, if you’re doing something that you don’t want the police to find out about, keep out of trouble.
This is the case of a 31-year-old man who was busted for having an impressive amount of illegal drugs at home. The police had been investigating him after receiving a tip of that he was peddling drugs around town.
The Guardia Civil, in co-operation with other police bodies, obtained a search warrant and raided his home in the early hours. The raid turned up 40 packets of hashish, 1,600 packets of marihuana and two kilos of green marihuana that was in the process of being dried out.
Now, the Guardia Civil might not have got onto him so fast, had he not come to their notice two weeks previously after an incident in a local car repair shop. He had taken a car there to be sorted out, but then decided that he wasn’t going to ‘sort out the bill,’ so he forcibly obtained the keys and drove off, causing damage to the workshop and other cars inside.
This relatively minor incident brought him to the notice of the Guardia, which gave them every excuse to investigate him further.
