Here we are over the provincial border in Málaga where most of this unpleasant business seems to occur, doesn’t it? Anyway, the next article is about a chap that has ‘gone down for’ (been sentenced to) three years for ripping off somebody’s ear with his teeth.
This surprising incident occurred when a group of young lads were celebrating Halloween in Benalmadena in 2007. Well, the bar in question was packed out and when one lad accidentally stumbled against a stranger, who responded by head-butting him in the nose, or as the Brits call it, “stuck the nut on him.”
The friend of the lad that accidentally pushed against the other person tried to break them apart, as his friend was getting a convincing pummelling. The lad that was winning wasn’t impressed by this intervention so he quite literally bit the other chaps ear off for sticking his nose in.
So here we are, three and a half years later and the judge decided the lad with an appetite for ears should spend three years in prison where he will meet people who have different appetites, which won’t involve ears or a lack of them. He also has to pay 33,000 euros in compensation.
However, the judge recognises that the sentence is harsh and therefore requests that the Government concedes a partial pardon, bringing it down to two years, which means that it will be a suspended sentence. The judge considers that the aggressor had no criminal record and was only 20 at the time, which, combined with the fact that the lad has already spent two months in prison after being arrested before being released on bail pending trial, is enough.
