Another incident involving violence and crime concerns a 43-year-old man from the town, who was already being sought by the police over outstanding judicial proceedings from 2007, and who has since been arrested and remanded in custody at the provincial prison of Albolote.

The incident occurred when the accused stopped a passerby, asking for cigarette papers for rolling. The victim, a young lad accompanied by friends of the same age, refused, so the elder man then allegedly threatened to kill him.

The man then, without warning, hit the lad with a wooden post in the face and whilst he was on the ground, stabbed him as well as inflicting several slash wounds. The Lad is recovering in hospital.
