A 36-year-old man has been detained in Guadix on charges of fraud after he allegedly contracted four new telephone accounts using the personal information of local citizens in order to get and keep the mobile phones and computers that the company was offering to new customers.

The ruse was discovered when the citizens involved began receiving bills for telephone lines they had not asked for. Neighbours, when asked, universally described the man as “charming and really friendly.”
