Beach Damage

Torrenueva beach, along with the rest of the Costa Granadina, took a good beating from the gales during mid December. The consequent damage was such that the Provincial Council declared that they would provide technical and financial assistance to restore the beach.
The Chairman of the said council, Sr. Caler, said that he expected Motril to help out with the costs – fat chance of that, of course, as relations between the two towns since Torrenuevas independence from Motril has been anything but cordial.
“If they pay us what they owe us,” said the Mayor of Torrenueva, Manuel Carrascosa, “we would be self-sufficient, economically, to cope with situations like this.”
