Reader’s Letter

There follows a readers letter about parking here in La Herradura,

Dear Editor
Will you ever write an article on the parking attendants that give you tickets and that whole situation? Why are the rules for Almuñécar different than for La Herradura, and who makes the rules? You never know if you are allowed to park for how long where? There is no information. And where does all that money that they collect go? Into someone’s pocket? And who pays for the phone that the girl has attached to her ear all the time?
I also wonder how the tourists that we are trying to attract are taking this. Personally I would go somewhere else. We have had many clients at our business, who get tickets and pay the 50 euros, as up until a little while ago, there were no instructions on the machines. They also need to put lights on them and highlight the slit at the bottom of the machine where you are to pay your ticket. The first ticket I got was at night and I had a really hard time trying to decide what to do and then where to put my ticket. I have also had a guy come to our business to deliver a registered letter to me for not paying a ticket. I wasn’t going to sign for it, so he went ahead and signed for me! How was I to know if I was to pay 3.40 or 6.70 (exact change – what is that about?) as there is nothing to explain that to you. I think the whole thing is a sham. Why does a little village like LH need parking meters off-season anyway? Good luck writing the article. Should be interesting…
