Salobreña failed to get itself included in the Plan de Playas this year, which is organised by the Junta de Andalucía. This is a bit of an economic blow as it provides grants for beach equipment and upkeep.
The opposition party, the PSOE, blame it on the governing party – there’s a surprise – claiming that the Department of Tourism and Beaches in the Town Hall has slipped up on the job.
“A seaside town like Salobreña, whose main tourist potential are its beaches, cannot permit itself the luxury of not being included in the Junta’s grants programme this year,” said the Spokesman for the PSOE, Gonzalo Fernández.
The leader of the IU in Salobreña congratulated the Town Hall, using heavy irony, on its ‘impeccable planning for the summer campaign.’
The governing party, the PP, appears to be making no comment, but the fact is that Salobreña is the only seaside town on the Costa Granadina that is not within this programme.
