Capital of the Costa Tropical? Or so, according to Antonio Ecamez, who insists that with the modernisation of the ‘little bridge’ connecting Playa Granada and Playa Poniente, Motril can start to fill its top-dog shoes.
And it’s a moment we’ve all been waiting for, as the bridge has been a quaintly inadequate structure for some time now, causing quite an inconvenience. But with the asphalt down and the finishing touches going into place, the new bridge should linking the Port to the Golf Club much easier and, most impressively it was all done at a rather insignificant cost of 15,000 euros, using council employees. The second phase of the modernisation plan, to install a wooden pedestrian bridge with bike paths and a 2400 m2 parking area, will also commence shortly.
