Cucumber Mountain

Anybody that strolled onto the beach at Carchuna would probably have done a double back flip, as we did, when they came across the incredible amount of discarded cucumbers on the beach… but we’re not talking about the odd slice left over from a cucumber sandwich, nor the peelings from a salad, but the 25 million kilos of surplus cucumbers that were dumped in protest.

Meanwhile, over in the thriving metropolis of Mólvizar, the village stray dog was reported to have stood up, yawned twice, stretched before lying back down again and going back to sleep – the locals are exhausted by all this activity.

Right to Protest

There was a Letter to the Editor in the Ideal newspaper on the 5th of August, entitled: The Right to Protest in Almuñécar, which was sent in by Concepción Barrencheguren from Granada. In it she refers to some people in Almuñécar who consider that visitors do not have any right to protest over the state…

Cajasol protest in Almuñécar

Employees from a building company, who haven’t received any salaries since November, protested outside the Almuñécar branch of the Cajasol. The company owner claims that the savings bank is subjecting him to a financial blockade, which has caused this shortfall.
