The Mayor of Motril, Carlos Rojas, has resigned from the mayoralty to take up a post in the regional parliament. He had hoped to be able to hold onto both posts, but a new law prevents politicians from doing that – as is only logical.

Almuñécar Negotiates Hotels

The new municipal administration is working on modifications to its urban-development paperwork in an attempt to get the Junta de Andalucia to allow the 5-star hotel in Santa Cruz, Sebastian to open. Almuñecar Facelift?

The Town Hall plans to rejuvenate the old town around the castle in Almuñecar and turn it into a tourist friendly area, using half a million euros from the 1.5m-euro fund set aside by becoming an official provincial tourist town.
The Town Council is looking forward to the economic boost that the new tourist status will bring and are pledging to give the town a facelift.
